Terms and Conditions are changing.

This is the crucial part...

Under Regulation 17 of the European Communities (electronic communications networks and services)(Universal Service and Users’ rights) regulations 2003 an operator shall not shall not less than one month prior to the date of implementation of any proposed modification, notify its subscribers to that service of the proposed modification in the conditions of the contract for that service, and their right to withdraw without penalty from such contract if they do not accept the modification. If you wish to exercise your right under Regulation 17 please contact O2. The continued use of O2 services after the effective date of the change is deemed acceptance of the change.

Very interesting discussion on Boards.ie

Apparently just putting this up on their website is deemed notification enough of the new tariffs. There is going to be a hell of a lot of people stung by this!

What are all you iphone fan boys going to do now? New iphone 4 most likely to be exclusive to 02 for the first few months anyway

They have some balls I give you that, isn't Ireland the best revenue generator per head of capita for mobile phone operators in the whole of Europe?

domestic prices are going up from what I understand. Im still trying to clarify exactly whats going on.

From what i gather from the legal jargon ...
They can alter the terms of the contract, ie price scehdule , etc ... and notify you within 30 days of the start of the change ....
its up to you then to contact 02 within the 30days to tell them to stick it up their arse and walk away without owing them anything .
If you use the phone after the 30days , then its as good as accepting the new terms, and you have to pay to leave the contract

All correct. What annoys me is I would never have known about this if someone had not emailed me about it. I dont go onto the O2 website everyday and have a look to see if they have changed their terms and conditions. The deal line would have passed and I would have been non the wiser. If you havent contacted them by July 12th then that is deemed your acceptance of the new terms and conditions.
