There's a lot of info on this topic.
Comes down to:
1. is the car / engine standard or upgraded internals / mapped etc
2. how do you use the car - like just normal road driving, lots of spirited driving, track days etc
Subaru oem recommendation is 10w40 semi synthetic.
Most on here use 5w40 fully synthetic... and some use thicker oils if the engine is running hotter due to map or track use etc and could use up to 10w60 synthetic.

Thanks for the reply, car is standard apart from exhaust. No track use so I think the 5w30 will be fine!
