passport help

Hi,

I need some help and no one will answer the passport office numbers for 2 weeks now.

We need get a passport sorted by end of august for the small fella, oh and he was born in Ireland.
Herself is polish and we are not married. Does she need her long birth cert (which she doesn't have in Ireland) or will her passport be enough?

Any help be great, thanks.

It's always easier to email public offices, you are much more likely to get a timely response. Often times, you'll never get anyone to answer a phone.

When my sister had to get the first passports for her kids she had to get the long birthcert from the Netherlands (as well as Jeff's full birth cert) - in fact it had to be less than 3 months old too (since issued). She's Dutch and married to an Irish fella; her kids are Irish born. Was a load of hassle as NL doesn't have birth certs the same as here. In the end were able to get a cert and a letter from the Dutch embassy in Dublin.

Maybe you can get a full cert and/or letter for your wife from the Polish embassy?

Keep in mind this was about 8 years ago or so... maybe things have changed / improved since.

Aaron, go into local garda station and get a passport form, its all explained in notes on form or download online, you will need her birthcert alright, prevents one parent taking child out of country without other parents consent

Post office just rang me back, only one parent has to send in passport or long cert.
all sorted and panic over, we are doing the christening over in Poland you see.

Many thanks for all the help!

They'll send it back or send you a letter. I had the same problem with my little lad. His mam is Latvian and we sent her passport away with his application and Irish birth cert but they wouldn't issue a passport until my Irish passport was sent in. Can't remember the exact wording but it was to do with her not living here long enough or not being able to provide proof that she lived here consistently for 5 years or something like that which applies to people living here from another EU country.

Yup, the Post office said only send my stuff and only she signs, like that otherwise it will be sent back.

Will they baptise him over there? They wouldn't baptise Christopher with an Irish passport. Irish passport and Latvian baptismal cert doesn't compute. :D

She rang to ask about doing it over there and the priest had no issues with it, but do not know if she told them he will have an Irish passport.
I will get her to ring the priest over there again to confirm.

She rang there Bonito and no issue with that at all. But nice to hear these problem to make sure we cover everything.
