Hi lads

Maybe some have had this problem! Could it be fixed or is it in the skip?

Sat down last night to chill and catch up on some recorded programes,
10mins in i here a buzz and fizzle and picture gone :icon_omg:

have sound but no pic just black screen, in your experience is it fixable and if so is it expensive?

Tv in question is a Samsung 50" plasma hd ready, bought about 6yrs ago, surley it should last longer? Rightly p1ssed off considering it was something like 3+k back then :angry1:

help appreciated,

Thanks, Nick.

Have a series5 50inc Samsung plasma. Not looking forward to that day above.

Yours sounds series4..

I would think financially its a write off as a lot of them now are area e600 new.

Think i paid area 2k

bin it nick, get youself a 50" full hd led 3d, picked up one a few weeks back for 1,200 there savage...

Yeah i see new 50" are from 600 up so maybe best just go new, but if it can be fixed for little money then for now i'd be happy,

if i do go new what's the down low on what to go for, plasma or lcd and what brand to get?

Lol sounds like your impressed with it Johnny, i must get myself along and check out whats on the market

Would defo see if can price get fixed.

Brand wise new. Samsung still leading the way

if i get 6 years out of mine before it blows id have no probs replacing it as it cost a mere 600 quid compared to what you paid , id be cracking up , deffo try for a fix before purchasing a new one ,

leave it in and try and get it fixed first . led tv's are the way to go now but so were plasma's 5 or 6 years ago so it changing every couple of years . some good deals out there

people are buying the led tellys now compared to the plazmas that are on the market,
the one i have is 400hrz, great picture off it....

Lcds are typically better in well lit room's (lot's of window's) and plasma's are better viewing from extreme angles

Lucky to get 6 years out of it I'd say. Design to Fail Nicky, thats what everyone does these days. We were even taught it in college and do it in work. Products are only designed to last beyond their guarantee and after that, its pot luck how long it lasts. Its all to get you back through the doors buying another so they have more consumer turnover, also the reason repair parts are so expensive as most people would just justify buying a new one for the extra money and they have you again.

Remember the days when your parents/grandparents had their cooker for over 20 years and give out now because they've had 3 in the last 10 years.

But its relative, a cooker is now about a weeks wages where 30 years ago it would have been 10 weeks wages.

Now, what was this thread about??

Got myself a Panasonic viera 47" smart led for 1100 a few months back.
There was a deal on at the time which included a free 5 year warranty with it.
Seemingly Panasonic have won all the awards this year for tv in what hi-fi magazine.

I'd just get a new one Nic. Alot cheaper now with better tech.

defo go for warranty if buying panasonic, i got a plasma and power supply failed after 2 years was 2,500 .

I bought a Samsung series 8 smart TV 3D full hd and its the best picture on a tv ive seen anywhere...Fact

good deal at the moment they give you a 7 inch galaxy tablet that you can have as a remote control and watch what ever is on the tv while you walk around as the tv has wifi...
