Punto GT

Hey lads,

Anybody ever drive a Punto GT? I'm thinking about getting one from the UK and use as a day to day car keeping the Impreza for the weekend.

Are they any good? Had a Glanza before, similar to one of those? They're a 1.4 8v turbo. I've been looking at a few on pistonheads and can get a decent one for under 2g's with a full service history...

Regards,
Stephen

Heard nothing but bad things about them and there even that quick

stay jap is your best bet or even an irish vti 160 bhp

Punto GT are you mad. I know a nice EP82 Starlet for sale for around 6500. It has FMIC, lots of gauges, Carbon Bonnet

I owned a punto gt for about 2 months. ABSOLUTE sh*t!!! In 2 months i had to replace 2 front wishbones, electrics went, and passed counting other problems! Ended up being wrote off when a king pin on wishbone snapped on a country road and put me straight into a ditch and telegraph pole!! Stay away from them!! :shoot: :shoot:

Just looking for something cheap and quick ish run around, with Petrol prices these days i don't want to drive the Impreza to work, as I live in Meath and work in Parkwest... And when I get the new paint job I don't wanna reck it with all the poxy road works going on in Dublin...

Looking at a sir Civic now...

Now you're on the money, you won't go wrong with an sir Civic, go for older shape, i.e. pre 95 for the best looking & best handling sir's.

I saw an immaculate looking sir the other day, it was an 89/90 (earlier shape again) but was auction grade 4, looked savage - will try & find it for you, but think it might have been a little above your stated price range?

I had an 1992 SiR 4 door civic. The best car that I ever had. Bullet proof engine. Same mpg if you drive the balls out of it or just dawdle along below the Vtec. Quite fast, great handling and will never let you down, unless you get a sh1tbox in the first place. Only drawback now is the amount of scangers driving them with Lexus lights

VTi are the doggies undercarraige

Had one myself and the best car I ever owned unitl I fettled with it

Smoked STI's around Mondello

Have to agree with Paul Punto's are absolute bags, they are that bit quickier than a Stalet but will give you endless amounts of trouble.

Nowadays with the car market the way it is i'd say you could get a decent enough car for 2000

a civic would be a nice fast reliable car but to find a good one they are making round 5 grand if not more,If I were you Id go for a 98/99 Tdi golf,I know diesel is more expensive but you will get 55m.p.g out of them, and they are easily tuned,my neighbours has 180b.h.p and its a car that really made me change my mind about diesels

Maybe you be interested in 1600 turbo wagon, great on fuel and its perfect condition 3grand,going to post it in the for sale section.
