re: a few questions

just a few questions if any one can help me... was out in couture auto there this morning....sound man to talk to. I asked him would they be able to fit a set of gauges i got off e-bay but straight away he was thinking it would be a bit iffy weather theyd work or not.. there sti defi genome gauges with a controller.... can any one tell me what should i have just so i know if im missing any bits.... its boost, oil temp and oil pressure. Also does anyone use the redline oil and any comments on it.... ive been told motul is the best job??? and lastly does anyone have ebc brake discs, the drilled and grooved ones and if so do you get an annoying rubbing noise off them????? any help appreciated, cheers.

Them sti genome gauages are the dogs, really good stuff, basically only made for the bug eye and up,but you can defo fit them to a classic,i have the boost gauage and the link meter connected along with my defi(sti genome is made by defi)...
Motul is great stuff, mobil 1 as well as castrol edge sport stuff...
Have ebc disc all round and yeah my rear discs have just started making noises, first thiught was the pads, but its the discs...not happy...

yea i was thinking it was the pads meself....maybe not so. Have to say now they`ve been like that from day one since i put them on.... did yours loose the gold colour around the hub part???? Yea the gauges look class, cant wait to get them in. every thing is there as far as i know..... looks to be anyway. over in couture auto they use this redline oil and i was just wanting to see if anyone else uses it and see what they think of it... ps... who fitted your gauges????

how did you find fitting them yourself??? i wouldnt mind doing it me self, its getting the cables into the cockpit id be stuck on.... how long did it take ya???

There is a gromit just behind your brake pedal, under the carpet,if you use a stanley knife and just make a small slit in it you can feed the cable through the fire wall,it depends on you how long it takes id say bout 2 hours to have them all connected, have you got all the sensors, and how are you connecting you oil temp/pressure to the block or do you have a sandwich plate???
Have you found the live wire your going to use to power the unit etc,etc...

have the sandwhich plate, both sensors on it.... by right would you be better having it on a lift for doing this???? i never done much of this on cars before. i dont know what to take the live feed off..... it would be only when key is on is that right????? ciggarete lighter???????? just after thinking, im missing the 3 way split piece for the boost line..... any idea where id get one???

I also have the Sti genome defi boost guage and controller. Fitted it myself.
Grommet in passanger footwell or as scoobyke said, drivers footwell.
Took my power from the ashtray/light for the controller as you have an ignition live there which is live when the key is turned, another live for the ashtray light which comes on with your side lights, this is used to give illumination to your gauge. Then you have your negative/ground connection amongst the ashtray connections also.
Use a multi meter to determine what cable does what.

ill use that source so.... just have to get the 3way split piece for the boost line now.... any ideas where to get 1???? hard enough to get something like that on its own would it?????
