Recommendations for Safe Surfing

Hi all, a friend of mine just got a new Windows Vista PC and broadband and wants to protect her kids from all the porn and crap out there. Can anyone recommend software to block all that stuff - preferably free I use a Mac so haven't a clue when it comes to Windows :computer:

put the pc in the kitchen, living room some where the kids can be watched what sites they are browsing, other then that get a firewall, we use a product called websence in work and that blocks everything, it even blocks forms (thankfully the have not twigged this one )Vista has a lot of new security features built in so there might be something in that, but blocking google might help..

Tell your freind to create a seperate account for the kids and give them general user access rights ( they wont be able to install software remove files etc), Iyou can then edit the security policy for that users which will block all internet access, the parent account will need to have admin rights to do this.

i hav vista and have set up a perental control for the kids but am lookin for for anti virus for the pc in general(free if possible),none seem to compatible
