Rev C B4 RSK Auto

Due to a possible aligning of stars an oppurtunity has popped up for a friend of mine to lay his hands on a b4 RSK that needs a bit of work which he is quite happy to do. But - it's an auto. I had a manual B4 and loved it but have zero experience with an auto short of knowing they have less power, can anyone tell me what those gearboxes are like and will it be far more valuable to him to hold out for a manual? He has the relative parts needed to sort the one he's looking at ready to go if needs be and by all accounts it's not a bad prospect but will he get any enjoyment out of the auto?

If it was yourself buying it i thik you'd be disappointed with the auto but if he doesnt have a reference point he may love it! The fact that there's only 4 gears means theyre quite long and while the auto is smart enough and shifts around the VOD(most of the time), if you use tiptronic mode you can land into it easy enough and be stuck there for a while due to the long gears. Changes in tip mode arent instant either. Its an auto with a manual override as opposed to a quick DSG.

Will it be a daily for him and will it be sitting in traffic a lot? If it is and he wants to have a backroad blast at the weekend it could be the perfect solution. If its a second/weekend car, maybe best to hold out for a manual. The auto is fierce handy if you have to deal with poxy Dublin traffic.

Any other q's just ask

Its his first venture into the murky waters of Scooby ownership, hes now on here as he has made the purchase. Its more of a project for him than anything and wont be a daily. Cheers for the help!!
