Dont buy from Harvey Norman, SoundStore Argos or the like for tec stuff.

They get it from Pixemania in bulk and still charge a fortune for most of the stuff.

Example 1, there the same system, thats some price hike even if you include postage.

And theres plenty more of them.

I hate to go against the grain but in fairness you can see why shops have to charge a fair bit more than an on line store. I have heard of people going into say Expert spending half an hour or more with a member of staff looking at a tv then goes home and orders on line.

online stores dont have to let expensive retail space, pay large number of staff or stock demo models

Have to agree with this. For example, if I wanted a new TV and was willing to spend close to 4 figures. Damn right I'd spend half hour talking to someone in Harvey Normans and looking at the quality of the picture and then go home and order it online cheaper.
Only recently I bought a new washing machine. I asked all the questions in Harvey Normans and then went and bought it cheaper from the Argos catalogue. Aren't consumers always looking for a better deal?

Yea buying online from abroad is a great help to keeping what few people we have employed in a job

 at least the postman/courier gets a fiver or so for delivery. def get us out of recession.

dont get me wrong i'd buy stuff on line as well but not pricey electrical goods, if you get something "cheap" from china or even england you have effectively a useless one year warranty. Nobody bargins for return shipping costs on faulty goods which can mount to a fair bit.

:dontknow:

I find powercity good for tv's and that you can bargain with them.
And if it takes a sh1t never a bother changing it.

 Thats funny. You must have plenty money to be throwing away.

You can get irish goods over in the US cheaper than you can get them here.....figure than one out

Dont get me wrong. Everyone loves a good deal. But if you were dealing with people every day that waste your time getting all the info off you then fook off and buy online for 10 euro difference id say you might get a little pis_ed off as well. And no i dont have plenty money to throw around but id rather buy local if possible within reason. Btw pixmania aint too good with warranty.

Its the way of the world, if shops want to keep their doors open, then they have to compete with online prices.. I work hard enough for my money so I'm certainly not going to give it away for nothing.. Shops are well able to compete if they want to..

Last tv i bought, I priced it online inc. delivery, then drove down to blanch shopping centre with a copy of the price, walked between DID, Harvey Norman and Power City doing a couple of laps and ended up saving myself €100 over the online price..

I'd always try to buy local, especially if the shop is irish owned but if they can't at least match the online price, then i'm going to go online..
