A few months ago I moved into new rental accommodation.
The house is on a hill. Below the garden on the road below is a small roundabout. This roundabout has 3 exits, all heading off in totally different directions. It’s a pretty dark area at night, with good visibility down all 3 exits. The roundabout island has a pretty small foot print and the lane around it is about 2 lanes wide with a small kerb.

Needless to say, this roundabout seems to be a popular spot with the RWD brigade. We mainly get visits from them between 12 and 3 at night, but on some occasions they could be there as late as 5 am. This doesn’t bother me during the weekend but it is really annoying mid week when I have to be up for work. Some of the cars that frequent the place would drown out the noise from my old STi wagon with Blitz Nur Spec.

When they are there, they are never there for more than 10 mins at a time, so by the time I could call the local plod, they’d be well gone before they arrive. They would also see the headlights a mile off and be gone well in advance.

Has anyone had an issue like this before and did you do anything about it? If so what did you do? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to scare or deter them from the location? Obviously I don’t want them to know that it is me who is complaining about it as we park our cars outside the house and would be very easy targets for retaliation.

Am basically looking for suggestions like remote detonated explosive devides etc. Something that we could have fun with and not have to venture too far from the scratcher.
 
its the same where i live except its a crossroad, the neighbour of mine reported it to the garda, but the lads that are doing this heard about the neighbour calling the garda about it, and kept away from the crossroad for a couple of nights and then back again doing the same thing, the more he complained the more they kept coming back. one of them got caught by the garda who was hiding behind a bush while the lad was doing doughnuts, fair play to the gards :clap:. its still happening again though every now and then.

I hate people that do that kind of messing on the roads, i heard on the radio that there was a lot of complaints about this in killarney the weekend. its all at night this is happening when they see lights coming they stop doing it and move off, even when i travel the main road you can see rings done all over the place i hate people that do this :angry1:

Same thing as a remote control car/helicopter only difference is lights instead of movement
 
Get registrations of the cars and report them to traffic watch, (1890205805). They should get a call out from a Garda that should scare them off from doing it in the area again...

Happened to my mate with his 180SX....

it would be hard to get the reg they would see you coming
 
You could petition the council to install speed ramps and/or change the design of the roundabout. Avoid stingers oil spills etc as you may end up causing a serious crash and being liable yourself. Also talk to the Garda seargant about it ans tell him you are going to talk to your local td about it also.
 
Killarney was a joke, parts of the Killarney to Rathmore main road was just black with rubber right outside houses :angry1: These messers are putting the whole rally in jeopardy, if they want to do rings why wont they fcuk off up the mountains somewhere. The croosroads near my house was a frequent place for them but they kept getting reported so they seem to have gone off somewhere else now, I now have gaurds passing my house nearly every night and because I drive a subaru Im getting a lot of unwanted attention all created by these scum :wall:

in western australia they call this "hooning", if the cops catch u they confiscate your car

Drove this road on sat!couldnt believe what i was seeing :shock2:

Killarney was DESTROYED by these twats!saw a guy doing it in a mk2 escort up Molls Gap sat morning!crowds were loving it :angry1:
 
I get it the whole time outside my house and i live in the middle of a housing estate. Gardai don't pay any notice to it though. Usually robbed cars at it. :angry1:
 
If you have any carpenter friends,
Ask him to call over one day with a couple of lengths of 4X2 and a Hilti gun! and nail the 4X2's to the road around the roundabout, like little abrupt speed bumps,
Shamfer the edges if you think it'll be to harsh, but it will defo stop drifters!

I can't really do anything to the road as it's a public road (which I use also). So suggestions like a bag of nails or oil is out of the equation really.

I know I can report it to the guards, but to be fair there is not much they can do about it either. They are hardly going to pay someone to sit hiding in a bush on a weekend night between 12pm and 5am. As I said before, by the time a complaint is made and they get out, the car will be gone, or else they will see the car coming.
 
how about setting up a night vision camera to tape what they are doing and give the cops a copy of the video ?
