sheering of wheel bolt

When I was putting the wheel back on the avensis at home last night, I tightened one of the nuts too tight and it just broke off the bolt coming out from the wheel.

Is there a fix for this or will I have to replace the disc?

Thanks,
Adrian.

not to sure what set up an avensis has but i'd say its just a matter of replacing the sheered stud :ponder:

Just replace the stud but theres something wrong when you snaped it off by hand

Thanks lads. That doesn't sound too bad.

I'll look that up on google as I wouldn't have a clue how to replace the stud.

Any ideas on why something like that would snap? I kept tightening it as it was still moving. I had intended to stop when I couldn't tighten it anymore but the thing just snapped.

There's about 85k miles on the car, if that helps...and the car is '08.

easy happen and could have been metal fatigue in the stud.

Get someone who has a set of proper stud extractors to remove it for you
