Definitely adopt if you can, we did it a long time ago now in 2000, we waited until after Christmas and picked up a lab cross from the DSPCA. Best thing we ever did, he was part of the family until cancer finally got him last year. I will get a dog again at some point and will definitely be adopting. Follow DSPCA on Facebook and they post up pics of dogs looking for homes, advising which will/won't be good for kids.
