So help/info needed

Lads i was stopped by the garda in jan this year for the size of my front number plate,and the angle it was lying on my splitter,since then i have put the plate up-rite,all though its still a bit small,now i was stopped on the 12-01-08,and today 06-06-08 i have recieved a summons to appear in court.
Is this rite,nearly 6 months after the "offence" i get a summons...????

Has this happened to anyone else??
 
they have up to 6 months to bring a summons.Got this from http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/justice/criminal-law/criminal-trial/time_limitations

In the case of a summary offence (an offence tried in the District Court before a judge without a jury) the Gardaí must make a complaint to the District Court within six months of the offence being committed. These offences include most Road Traffic Offences like speeding, illegal parking and fixed charge notice offences.
 
Il hav to look into that, iv got countles amount of summons after 10 or 11 mounths
just when i tought the gard might of forgot :wall:

So now i have to loose a days pay,to go see a judge that will charge me €100 or so...for the Garda being a ****** and just giving me a fine on the spot.... :angry: :angry: :angry:

why would you summon a guy for a small reg plate????
i'm sure if he had told you on the day to replace it...you would have!!!!!!!!!!
i dont know how many times ive seen gardai drivin around with mobile phones to their ear..but i couldnt be arsed to ring the fuckin pighouse.....

not too sure on the legal side of things maybe get a solicitor to have a look into it
your not going to believe this just after fittingme small no plate on frount about an hour ago
thought they just tell you stick on original and that would be it summons seems a bit harsh for such a trivial thing
hope you get it all sorted :thumbsup:
any idea of what sort of penality for this offence
 
i have no reg on my car and a small bike reg in the window what is bearly seen. :eek:mg:

always just say the reg and bracket fell off the car and halfords or somewhere else has a bracket on order. :D

i have recieved a few summons after six months also. there ookin scum with makin the money easy pulling us for little things when there are actually real criminals out there to get. :angry: :angry:
 
mate of mine was done on drink driving (crashed his car the mourning after and had it in his blood) and it took over a year for them to ban him, he went through another car and had another one bought before he was actually off the road
 
A mate of mine got a summons about 2 years after the offence happened :ponder: And i myself got one 11 months after i was stopped for no L plates.

Stuff like this should be a on the spot fine for the sake of our own time and the courts :angry:
 
as the cop comes to your window give him a tiny squirt of carb cleaner to the eyes, that will give you enough time to escape :D

@ rob, just find the gaurd before hand and tell him you have the plate sorted now and He'll probaby mention that when he's speaking in court!
