phonelines usually use a 4/6 core cable. the line itself only uses 2 cores so if the cable gets damaged you can switch over to the spare cores. depending on what happened to the cable you might not need a new one, you might get away with using the spares. i could think of about 4 ppl on here that could do it for ye myself included.
