Strange one RE:penalty points

B4 soon

Petrolheads
Can anyone work this out? Was stopped last year for using the phone while driving, took it on the chin and fine arrived in the post.At the time it wasn't long after the death of my mother and had a stack of paperwork to do so left it with that and forgot it until I came across it two days after the 56day payment period-sent it off thinking it was like old times-theyd accept it and thatd be it but no-sent back to me and summonsed to court, convicted and fined in court and 4 points recieved-admittedly all my own fault. Thing is,the points notice arrived stating the 4 points will be applied from "first day of holding new licence"-I renewed my licence in 2012 so am I not getting points until 2022?????? Makes zero sense to me-surely they cant apply points recieved in 2013 nine years later???

Thats bit mental alright be because its a court conviction theyll actually be written on the license but I wouldnt be sure :dontknow:

Points are never written on a licence regardless of court or not-and nobody at any stage asked for my licence

Not a hundred percent sure but a few years back maybe 8/9 years ago I got two points for speeding paid the fine and thought no more about, a year or so later I moved myself north of the border and exchanged my licence, there was something wrong with paperwork and they sent it back, so filled out bit i was missing and took to local DVLA (licensing office) the guy there then told me. " your lucky you points have just expired 2 days ago" we wouldn't have been able to exchange til they had expired or something to that effect
Anyway I never got any notice on my Irish licence that I had been awarded any points in the first place so I would imagine your points are already there and the days left are decreasing. Go inta local cop shop or ring the ever helpful RSA and ask what's the story..?

Did you produce your license or a copy in court? You can call Shannon and they can tell you if there's points on your license.
