Hybrid, the Subaru way

e-BOXER. Subaru?s new-generation power unit system that combines Motor Assist with two of Subaru?s core technologies: Boxer engine and Symmetrical - All Wheel Drive (S‑AWD).
It takes ?what makes a Subaru, a Subaru? to the next level. The new e‑BOXER range inherits the performance of low centre of gravity with the poise and efficiency of the proven S‑AWD system.
Its compact, yet powerful motor is placed near the vehicle?s centre of gravity, while the battery and other components are arranged above the rear axle.
With even lower centre of gravity and better-balanced front/rear vehicle weight distribution than our petrol model, the new e‑BOXER delivers more driving efficiency and responsive handling, with no sacrifice to safety.
By enhancing hybrid technology and introducing it at the core of Subaru DNA, with Motor Assist, you get the best of both worlds.
Which is also better for today?s world.

Linear and responsive ? Power in safe hands

Electricity generates excitement. And the new e-BOXER electric motor doesn?t disappoint. Generating highly responsive torque control for a safer, more enjoyable drive from the moment you put your foot down.

Energy efficiency ? Fun and adventure this way

Power through efficiency. While e-BOXER controls drive mode changes like Engine driving. EV driving and Motor Assist driving, to best match the driving situation and driver input, you simply soak up the scenery.

Enhanced rough road capability ? Tougher where it matters

Tough ascents. Tricky descents. Whatever life throws at you, whatever obstacles get in your way, Motor Assist enhances X-Mode?s rough-road capability by enabling easy and quick torque control.
X-Mode has got what it takes.

The 2019 Forester is built on the Subaru Global Platform to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection, ride comfort and quietness. Arriving at Subaru retailers later this year, the all-new Forester will be available in standard, Premium, Limited, Touring and new Sport trim levels. All are powered by an enhanced direct-injection, 182 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine featuring Auto Stop/Start and paired with a standard Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). Also standard on all trim levels is Subaru?s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

e-Boxer combines Boxer engine and electric technology

Subaru will use the newly-updated 2.0-liter direct injection horizontally opposed engine plus electric technology producing the "e-Boxer". It will use a lithium-ion battery, and Subaru says it will include SI-DRIVE. With the 2.0-liter gas engine coupled with the electric motor, the Japanese automaker says acceleration of the Forester e-Boxer will exceed that of the 2.5-liter petrol model.

The 2.0-liter boxer engine produces 145 PS (143hp) and 188 Nm (139 lb-ft) of torque. The AC synchronous motor produces 13.6 PS (13.4 hp) and 65 Nm (48 lb-ft) of torque. The system is mated to a full-time all-wheel-drive system, and Subaru?s Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission. Subaru did not release fuel mileage estimates. This will give the e-Boxer a total output of 187 lb-ft of torque. The new 2.5-liter Forester petrol engine produces 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque.

Subaru also announced the Forester e-Boxer will come standard with X-MODE for extreme off-road use and EyeSight for improved safety.

The thing I'm most excited about that is the Wrx/Sti version based on that technology and the lower emissions aka much less tax for us here. Imagine a 300+ bhp Sti with the boxer rumble, superb handling, low end torque from 0 due to the electric motors and lower tax. I know its something that I would love to own [emoji41]

Anything that gets the emissions tax & V.R.T. down is welcome, its also the return of Subaru petrol engines in Ireland well past a decade which is a game changer for Subaru Ireland and quiet a big thing if you think about it.

Please please please Give us an Sti that doesn?t cost 2350 euros a year to tax :STi:

Was in Slatterys last week getting Forester serviced and Andy tells me no more diesels from 2020 and all going to be CVT!
Apparently manuals will still be available only in Japanese market. New Forester is a fair bus but i still think they are too expensive.

Not a fan of the cvt after driving 1 it doesn?t know what gear it wants to be in manual is the way to go . Ye they are too expensive 50k for an Outback and forester is nuts

Hybrid STI would be a class option.
I'd like to look at them and be secretly jealous of anyone who could afford it ????????
