Subaru and its STI division debuted a new limited edition mechanical watch at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon in mid-January.
The 2013 edition of the STI-branded timepiece will be produced in a limited run of 300 units, 30 of which will be offered during the show along with a special band adjustment tool.

STI said that in Japan, prices are set at 59,325 Yen (about US$710 or €542 at the current exchange rates).

The mechanical watch relies on the operation of gears to measure time, as opposed to quartz timepieces that function electronically.

It tells the time for several international cities plus the Nürburgring, while also featuring a power-reserve counter shaped like a fuel gauge (at the 6 o' clock position) and a window on both sides showing the gears that are shaped like a boxer engine piston.

nice looking watch but not for me, i would have thought 250-300 euro by the look of it, looks like they went for the sporty tag/omega look...

Pretty sure the japs don't excel in the high end watch making

If its not swiss made then not for me

SEIKO make some of the best watches you can get, some SEKIO watches will run you 15k...the do you run of the mill stuff as well but they are known for serious watches

they also make this brand Cerdor
http://www.seikospringdrive.com/sonnerie/

which START at 150k !!!

Yeah Seiko are capable alright, that grand seiko you provided the link to being a case in point.

I suppose my observation is around this watch being sold as premium due to using gears for movement when the time-keeping standard is so poor @ +25 to -15 seconds per day. Unless you're spending big money on mechanical movements its just a marketing gimmick. They should have just made it with quartz movements & used quality materials to give it a premium feel at this price level

If it's not PATEK PHILLIPPE .....................i wont ware it :snooty:
http://www.patek.com/contents/default/en/home.html

:multijump:...............you would want some serious amount of spare cash
to justify spending upwards of 40 / 80 /100k on a watch .

TBH i'd rather buy a car

NIall.

I know a lad who has one, he's not rich by any means..he's a watch maker and he came across it in disrepair ....its' worth upwards of 60k and he walks around with it on his wrist...it just looks like an old watch in fairness, but imagine losing it.....its more than he earns in a year.

watch people are as mad as a box of frogs imo

anything over €100 is wrong

Its like any piece of jewellery to be fair - if it gives you satisfaction every time you look at it then its worth spending money on - but I'm probably a little biased as I have a fairly strong infatuation with watches

Plus quality watches don't depreciate

its the whole 22b thing again , appriciation in the eye of beholder / admirer . i know im kind of in the group with my "STI" . but i feel ive got what most can , without the exessiveness of showing off .

i dont wear a watch myself at the minute ,though i would like one (for functionally only)

and jewellery is only for girls and Mr. T.
