Suggestions please?

Lately Ive put up some roadside signs to promote the breakdown service. But someone is breaking the stakes and robbing the signs. Anyone have any suggestions how to catch the wa*&ers??? 10 signs gone so far and theyre a tenner each.
 
Run a ring of fencing wire around the sign or just inside the edge at the back of it on the connect it to the electric fencer !!!!
 
Is there anyone around your area with a similar business, They could be swiping them.....
Just an idea, but some people are desperate for work and would do anything. :thumbsup: Mite be worth sending one of the lads you know too them and see if he spots anything.......

Jayus thats sh*t, maybe coat the stakes with grease or engine oil, do you put the signs up far from you

where you live, if there close enough, maybe a hidden camera that has a transmiter might do the trick.
 
Theres a guy very near me here,but i dont think he'd bother. Has anyone ever heard of spraying stuff with microdots that can be tracked?
 
Not that, but any type of small radio transmitter should do the trick, I doubt that they are being brought too far away, So something that can broadcast its position too you could be usefull.
Not a clue where too get anythin like that though. Talk too the guards, and neighbourhood watch, Mite throw something up for you. :thumbsup:

If 10 signs are gone I'd say it''s likley a competitor imho. I like the grease/engine oil idea.

Was thinking the same, lash on a load of the black gluey stuff that the shops etc put on walls to stop people getting in.
 
Or isnt there some kinda dye that only shows up when a fluorescent light is shined on it.

Then you'll catch the bast*rds red handed.
 
That dye would work-but how would I explain going round to people shining lights on their hands! The slippy stuff would only stop them pulling them up-theyre being broken out of the ground. Id love to put loads of broken glass in the stakes-but if a kid touched a sign then :icon_blahblah: :icon_rolleyes: Thanks for all the replys-keep them coming-wanna get this pr1ck
 
Have you said anythin to your local garrda?
see if they have any ideas....
 
my local gardai are alright lads-but no point bothering them with this-too smalltime and nothing would be done about it
 
that has to be some scumbag that knows you maybe has a similar business in your area maybe not doing so good at the minute
 
I use b4heavens trusted rock boot face method..hide your self somewhere catch them in the act.
 
Rock boot face will be happening when theyre got. Not council-theyre being pulled up on a specific stretch of road-but being left elsewhere
 
Any chance you could move the sin so they can be seen from a nearby house.

Or just up from a lay by, Plant you signs and park up, might be a few hours wait, but

you might catch them in the act.
 
Get onto Michael Spec C he has a few rothweiler daaggss you could tie to the signs :lol: Ah no maybe just hide a video camera near a sign that would pick up the reg of the car. It wouldnt have to be too close to the sign. Its probably happening between 12-4 am. Does it happen at the weekends or anytime ?
 
i thought you needed permission to put up any signs at the roadside? Could be unhappy residents taking them up, thinking they are causing a hazard to traffic or pedestrians :dontknow:
 
As long as youre not putting them on ESB or telecom poles,no one bothers to say anything around here. Ive never put a sign within 200m of a house-most of them are at wide spots on the hard shoulder or lay bys-where people pull in a lot.
