The value of scrap metal

Hi lads just wondering if any one knows what the vaule of metal is.

Father is doing a tidy up down home, dumping engine blocks, gearboxs and about 20

alternators and 40 starter motors. Guessing they have to be worth something.
 
Our GAA club made 3k from a collection and we are mainly urban area. I've heard of clubs making 20k on collections. Ring your local scrap dealer. Here is the one in Sligo if you want an idea Erin recyclers 071 9153360
 
out of curiousity would it not vary in places as i heard before that the chinese weren't buying as much anymore which has affected the price
 
Like buying steel sheets - bar or anything - there is no set price but an approximate value with a + or - factor and comes down to where you are dealing with.

I have extensive experience with this, :icon_grin:

In cavan here Wilton waste was giving up to 180 a ton for scrap metal if you brought it to them or bit less if they sent out a lorry for it
 
Great input lads, really haven't a clue. I'll pass on the advice to the father.
