I've got Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric (235/40 R18) on my car, had them just over a year and they're great in both wet and dry conditions, not wearing too badly either
I always have the F1 (non asymmetric) on my very hard driven golf
Very good, in every respect!
So which ever tyre you can get cheaper is the better one!

the assymetric are the newer better tyre

Just got 3 new tyres for the golf,
I was told it's the last time I'll be able to get the old non-assymetric tires?
So I suppose, as the other Dan says, the assymetric newer tyre is more than likely the better one!
