The VRT will be on a sliding scale depending on CO2 emissions
Even the standard 2008 WRX will suffer very badly with both VRT and motor TAX
The motor tax will be 2,000 per year, so I don't think you will see a lot of them sold :dunno:
As for secondhand imports AFAIK they will be graded in the same format as new cars
So if you are looking to import a car, do it before July and get it registered
This new tax format could potentially kill both new and second hand imports of high powered jap cars, as who would pay 2k per year in motor tax along with all the other costs associated with running a high powered car
It will also have implications with regards to the existing "Irish Registered" fleet. As their tax on a 2.0lt with be appox 600 per year, there will be more demand for them compared to the fresh imports with the 2K yearly sting
