was wondering how much vrt be on a 00 p1 and its 6567 euro based on open market selling price of 21,892euro. does anyone else think thats a bit high

Ya P1's are alot higher than Type R's of the same year. More or less the same car. P1 has a few more extras. Someone on here paid €7000 VRT last year on a P1

Hello Lads & Ladies,

A P1 is very expensive on VRT

You cannot even say its a Type-R as it was only first registered in the UK, thus it always attracts a high VRT figure

VRT is legal in Ireland and Portugal, as it was allowed by the EC when we were down on our knees many years ago. They granted it as being acceptable in order to create extra revenues for our government

Even in the "Celtic Tiger" years and record Exchequer receipts it was not abolished, it really should have been at this stage

I'm not going to bore you with what I've paid in VRT in the last couple of years, but it would make you sick

AFAIK there is a challenge working its way through the European Courts on the basis that it is anti-competitive (as in free trade in Europe)

I do not think that the judgment will be retrospective or will favor the car buyer in any way

Sorry for the Rant, but sometimes I feel Brian Cowen only leaves me with the Money HE DOES NOT WANT

Cheers,

Michael

Unbelieveably-22Bs are cheaper to clear. Theyre shells were already stamped as V5s before the decision was made to manufacture them so thats what customs clear them as. Was there when my friend cleared his 3 years back
