This has probably been covered before but how can you confirm 100% what the vrt(and road tax) on a car is before committing to buy. I'm half thinking of something a bit unusual and would need to confirm everything before looking at further.
Is there somewhere you can ring with a chassis number to confirm or is something else to do
Thanks

Thanks but car is a bit unusual and not on ros website plus I'm not sure if it was originally a Jap car that was then imported into uk.
Car is uk registered but may have been Japanese originally.

Vrt is a joke of a system . Mate of mine is 3 or 4 weeks trying to clear his r32 and get her on the road and revenue won't even quote yet

Your mate must not have the paperwork in order then, I got my GTR inspected and 2 days later had the quote and paid.

If the car isnt listed its generally 36% of the cost landed before VAT and duty, seeing as yours is in the UK will be 36% of the price paid for the car

He has everything needed in order but revenue are been awkward and not quoting and saying it needs to be inspected at nct centre . And his nct centre are saying it doesn't need inspection as it's on the system and also saying they have no appointments free .

They fined me last year for being a day over the allowable time to register even though they left me two weeks waiting for a quote following inspection at nct centre.

That's a sick joke . You had to pay a fine because they kept you waiting .

What next speeding fines because the gardai thought you were going to break the limit .

Something seriously wrong with the civil "service" here .

No joke Tommy, think it was €150 fine. Was told I could appeal to revenue but it just seemed too much of a ball ache
