Vrt.

Story everyone.
Sorry for annoying you all,
But I was just wondering if anyone had any info on the vrt and how they come up with their prices?
😂
I’ve recently bought a 2001 GC8 Impreza, which has Scottish plates.
I bought it off a young fella in Kerry, who said that the estimate vrt price was €850. Now, although a 32 year old man, I’m a full eejit so I just gave him all my Money like a fool. But that’s my fault so no bother.
He brought in the car himself from Scotland and attempted to vrt it around Christmas but gave up (guess why…).
It took about 3 weeks after the inspection but they’ve finally given me a price.
€3367…
Which is more than the car cost or is worth.
I met a fellow member today at cars and coffee in bray who had a blob eye, and he told me that even if I pay the 3 grand, that I might get fined for every day it’s been in the country?
Wondering if anyone on here know anything about this or the whole vrt process.
If not, and it just is what it is, sure just share your horror stories here
😂
Sorry for annoying you, and thanks for listening

Yeah, look unfortunately you have to pay and just bite the bullet.
You can go through the appeals process after which does have some success but it does need paying in full first.
As for the fines, I'm not sure, my understanding was that you have your quote now, if you don't pay that in 30 days you will start to accrue fines... But open to correction

Is there a SAD for customs for importation from Scotland? If so they may fine you based on that date.

Also, u should easily get at least half back on appeal. I'd say they based that value on UK turbo and not a Sport.

Actually, scratch that if they gave you the official VRT quote and its been inspected then the fine should be included on the bottom if its been applied.

So I only got the phone call on Friday.
And they told me I’ve 30 days to pay.
But I’ve been sent no official statement or anything.
What is SAD by the way?
Apart from the feelings the revenue have instilled in me

If it's from Scotland officially you need to pay VAT and Duty to customs to clear it. into Ireland (Brexit Shite) A SAD is a customs clearance document to say all that is done. Potentially you have 23% VAT and 10% duty to pay on top of the VRT.

Unless you have a buddy or family up in the North of Ireland, that's the only way out of it as I'd say the lad in Kerry didn't bother to clear it.

I have this SAD document that came with the sale.
I have all the paperwork off the lad I bought it from.
I googled it and it’s meant to look like this.
My only concern is if it’s a receipt docket, or a bill that wasn’t paid…

Ur good if you have that then it's paid. Only thing now is appeal.

I got 75% back on an appeal so you have some hope. I've all templates etc if u need help.

Aw thank god.
😅
I’ve been stressed all day about that.
I spent every penny on it and I’m working like mad to design stuff to sell to pay for this imaginary tax number.
I’d love the templates if you have them man.
I’m a pure moron and I’m so new to all this.
It’s been a childhood dream to own a Scooby and I’m not letting him go
😂
Thanks for all the help everyone!

No you can dispute it. I had a quote once for over 2k for a silvia, and ended up paying I think 780 or something. You'll need proof of what you paid, comparable cars that are for sale, and any rust, dents and damage on your car to argue lesser value. Trust me though you'll get it done for far less :)
