VW golf oil top up

Lads,

Quick one, the girlfriends brothers golf needs an oil top up but he says that he doesnt want to do an oil change yet??? Is there any particular oil he should use or just oil from maxol/topaz/esso???

if its just a 1.4... id say use 10w40....... no particular brand

The diesels have very very specific oil requirements
Small petrol engines arent so specific!
I Imagen you'd be ok just to use halfords finest!

depends if it gets longlife service intervals....
normal servicing and longlife servicing use two different oils on both petrol and diesel..

Its a petrol and has always been serviced at correct intervals, its a MY00.
