Warranty Question

just wondering if you import a subaru from the north or england that is still under the 3 year warranty and reg it down here does the warranty still stand here

Never been in the position to buy a new or reasonably new Subaru so can't be sure on what was offered, but if its a dealer 3 yr warranty then it would be fine here, but if it was only the garage offering the 2nd and 3rd yr as warranty then you wouldn't be covered.

you cant use subaru uk warranty in ireland.its a different company to subaru ireland.had this problem with my sti from donnellys in belfast.warranty is not a problem but you have to use a uk dealer to obtain warranty.hope this helps....
they might tell you its ok to use anywhere but try it out when you have a problem and noone down here will be interested..

its a european manufactuers warranty....... and the warranty on the car is where the car is bought........

i.e. say warranty on a car in ireland is 2 year unlimted mileage warranty
and a car say in uk with a 3 year 100k mile warranty...........
and you bought it in uk 2 year old.. and at 2.5 years old back in ireland bought in uk and on irish plates it devolopes a fault and its under 100k then you are covered at your nearest dealer. So warranty terms is where chassis number/country of car is originally purchased and this carries itself throughout europe...........

Am trying to answer this question for myself at the moment. My UK import is due a service and has just developed the infamous knocking on the passenger rear shocks, still under warranty period. Rang an Irish dealer, they said couldn't find my chassis number on system so told them it was UK import. They said they had to clear it with Subaru Ireland and I had to send in full Service History, Vehicle Licensing Certificate and a whole lot of other stuff for them to send on to Subaru Ireland. So I did this and over a week later rang the dealership to see if my package had arrived with all the docs - they said no it hadn't arrived. Will ring again tomorrow and if still no joy will probably just bring it up to Donnellys in Belfast - less hassle and a bit of a day out. Got the impression the dealership down here weren't exactly chomping at the bit to do the work so I wouldn't have any qualms giving the business to someone else.

yes a full main dealer servicing is in the small print.............

this will have to have had been done........

its different if your spending money as opposed to getting free warranty.i understand thats what warranty is but going into a dealer looking for warranty when you didnt buy it there, they will just pawn you off by saying they cant take a booking for over 3 weeks or something like that...
that use to happen in a dealer in dublin i worked in for years....
even now with any vag car bought in this country,if u have a problem,a garage that is closer to you is not obliged to do your warranty, its the sellers responsibility.

To answer your original question Gerry, apparently once you provide the Irish dealer with all the necessary paperwork (FSH etc.), they send it on to Subaru Ire, who contact Subaru UK to get a warranty number for the job...according to the dealer i was on to anyway that's the procedure.

ya this is what subaru ireland had to say

Further to your below e mail please be advised as follows.

All European specification Subaru vehicles are covered by a Pan European manufacturers warranty
providing the following criteria are met.

1 The vehicle is a European Specification vehicle with a first registration date within the terms
of that provided by the original Distributor. ie ( UK 3 years 60,000 Miles )

2 The vehicle has been maintained and operated within the terms of the warranty provided.

3 The vehicle is unmodified.

4 Documentation as to the legal ownership and Service history are available for inspection by an authorised Subaru dealer.

In the event of the vehicle requiring warranty repairs the vehicle must be presented to an authorised Subaru dealer
who will evaluate and advise Subaru Ireland accordingly. We Subaru Ireland must then apply for acceptance
to the original selling distributor
It is the selling distributors decision with regard to the acceptance of warranty and we simply act as intermediaries
in such cases and any complaints should be directed to the original selling distributor.
