Evening all,
I am thinking of buying an 06 forester from a non scooby dealer, this has approx. 15 mths of the subaru warranty remaining & has done 42000 mls. The dealer is a bit sketchy on history etc., who is liable for repair etc. if god forbid say the turbo blew on the way home from picking it up ? I have had a short test drive & it seemed fine but i'm no expert :dunno:

Sounds dodgy why is he advertising it with 15 months warranbty and he has no paper work? be sus of any 06 that wasnt jap with no history

i bought an impreza second hand off a dealer with around the same time left on the warranty , and one the sensors on the exuaust was giving me trouble and it was in and out of the garage a few times and i got car hire and tow truck from portloaise to balbriggan with no hassle! i bought it off eddie garry in waterford and i live in Dublin so when it broke down i called the number in the book in the car and they sorted the tow to the nearest subaru dealer to me!

all maufactuers give a warranty in this case for 3 years..

This is covered by european law so no matter wat dealer you bring it back to the warranty work will be carried out..

Now obviously there is conditions..
No Mods be the clear no no. Or evidence of any reversed.
But also a full service history be main dealers. If this is not the case the warranty may be void..

thats the point i was trying to make..it would only have had 3 services from new..how come the dealer is unsure of its history?is it original uk registered?
I wouldn't take it as a warranty unless i saw some paper .

Cheers guys for your comments it's just the salesman putting me off, you know the saying if it looks too good to be true!! I know it's not a subaru dealer but he did'nt know who traded it in & today he did'nt know if it was still there :dunno: I have seen the stamps in the service book & they seem ok, I'm still waiting to hear back from him on a few issues, maybe he thinks he has me hooked & it's just sales tactics :ponder: :ponder:

The legal requirement by euro law is 2 years, and it does not have to be a dealer maintained car, but you will need a service record. The extra 1 year is an added warranty by the Irish distributer and Subaru themselves. Euro law states the the car must be serviced by qualified personel, and using parts of similar quality.
Turbo's are rarely covered on a high performance car anyway, and any other wearing item such as brakes and clutch's are not covered
