What Fuel - And Where...?!?!?!

Gents,

Couldn't find the topic from previous posts.

Question - what fuel you putting into your cars, and where do you buy it from...??  I've read that most guys here use either Shell or Esso.  From what I've read and heard, Shell Ireland was sold off to Apple Green, rebranded Discount Fuels or something...?? And correct me if I'm wrong, but their fuel is cr@p.  I recently filled up at a local Shell garage, and I can feel the difference in the car - it's not driving as smooth as it was, and seems to miss (splatter) when sitting in 2nd/3rd gear at about 2-3 revs.  I know Shell in South Africa was rated one of the best and always used their fuel.

There is an Esso in Malahide which I'm going to use - but what about the rest...??

I saw a Statoil Tanker filling up the Tesco pumps on Malahide Rd the past week - isn't Statoil meant to be good...??  :dunno:  :ponder:

What is being used by the guys in and around Malahide/Clarehall...??

Thanks.

Would that include filling up at Tesco's...?? :dunno: I know a lot of the guys said that Tesco's is cr@p - but it seems they use Statoil as well. :ponder:

I use statoil and tesco myself and generally dont find any problems with either and especially since we drive such petrol guzzlers tescos discount petrol dont hurt too much either :)

tesco is statoil petrol..

texaco not good seeming cos the techron stuff seemingly counteracts against the octane booster.....

i use any of them except above..

Hello CamoMo,

I use Esso no problems at all with them

When getting fuel, try to use a busy gargage as the longer fuel stands it octance level reduces accordingly

Cheers,

Michael

I have a question then bout this fuel story....BP ULTIMATE have a bout 6-8 stations up in the north, and they claim there fuel is 97octane,is it ok use with lucas,or stay away as with the shell optimax stuff...
On the same sorta subjet,my misses went looking at a jap import civic typeR,now obviously they are/were running the car in jap land on there better fuel, does the civics need to get there ECU re-mapped/chipped etc....or is it ok for her to buy it and just run it on our crap fuel...anybody any ideas.... :ponder: :dunno: :dunno:

Don't know about civic's but im sure you'll get all the info on the Honda site

Shell Optimax is great it's Shell V-Power you must stay clear of !!!!!

Niall.

Hondas dont seem to suffer anything like Scoobs with the crap fuel. Never heard of one having any trouble due to it anyway.
