what happens when you have too much oil in your engine?

dohcturbo

Octane Boostaholics
i topped it up her up the last day as it was very low, checked it after and the dipstick read too high.
i only start it once a week as its off the road.
so i started it and left her heat up and gave it a few revs with the als on. (just to keep me happy for the week)
but she started smoking, i think from under the turbo somewhere, but dont think it was the turbo.
would it be of all the oil i put in??????????????

way toooo much, i just checked there again.
i must have red the stick wrong. :ponder:
and put in a litre and a bit.
il have to drain in out just in case.

A number of things happen

The cranks aerates the oil and creates a froth so you suck oil with air bubble(lack of lubrication and a much lower Specific Heat Capacity)

As said it forces itself through stem seals and also piston rings

Don't see it doing major damage quickly tho....

You should be alrite a Subaru Mechanic once told me that the oil levels have to be spot on, the engine's don't like too much oil.
Once you get it just below the top level mark you'll be grand. :subaru:

This happened to me once in my civic, put too much in and created a fog behind me as i took the car for a spin   i promptly nursed the car home and drained it!!

Hope your motor is ok lad,let us know how ya get on
