What Telescope?

My missus is looking into getting me a telescope,
she's gonna spend around €250-300, is there anyone on here that has knowledge in this area?
what's the best startup scope?

no interest in this at all,
but i have used cheap and highend telescopes
wud suggesst thst 200-300 wud be a waste
 
Id avoid David Moore who owns Astronony Ireland Shop / Club. At one stage they where nearly twice the price for everything and he is massively bias, I hear that Andy McCrea of NorthDown telescopes is good or was at least.
 
usually good ones are about a grand upwards but that will be a good starter for you nick
