Whats faster

Paul v4

Petrolheads
I have a friend who just a 06 r32 golf and he says my 98 v4 STI wouldnt stand a chance  does anybody know which would be fastest 0-60 top speed qtr mile ect, :subaru:

my philosophy on fast cars is 'straight line speed ain't sh*t' , take him down your favorite back road and see if he still thinks you dont stand a chance ;)

i'd defo say the impreza, better power to weight ratio,up to 100mph,and then after that he might have a slight advantage with the bigger engine   BUT,
Put a couple of bends into the picture and it will look like trying to stay with the star trek enterpise in warp speed,,bye bye r32 :subaru:

:noway: That's boy racer talk Norris.

Ask him up to mondello on a track day so you can settle it safely

Norris is right about 0-60 etc, these are only numbers, a timed lap is where you could settle this

Cheers,

Michael

Question answered, but just to be sure maybe you should find a quiet road, be safe, and test it yourself  :p

keep one hand on the wheel!

Don't know about this one Paul tbh..firstly your car is not going to be producing the 280 it did from the factory..be lucky on 95 if its putting out 260..the golf has a reliable 250 with bags of torque right through the range and no turbo lag....BUT the biggest problem is that dsg box its very very fast to change..anyone who hasn't driven( i drove it in the GTi) should its incredible..i defy anyone to shift quicker without a sequential shift..its that quick..if you even miss a beat when your shifting he'll leave you

Agree with Dagnut. Went for a spin in a new GTI that had the dsg box. They are impressive to say the least..!!!

A standard Impreza might not stand up to the R32 in a straight line. All depends on your gear changes.

As mentioned previously though, once off the straight and onto the twisties the Impreza will come into a little league of its own.
