Anyone able to recommend somebody who doesn't think you've given them a blank cheque like the dealerships seem to think???

Last year I booked my car in for a service which was supposed to cost 225 euros (most expensive oil/filter change i ever saw!!) and ended up forking out 750 quid by the time they were done... lots of stuff got changed without my permission and magically disappeared too so it couldn't be examined afterwards!!!

and the best bit is they bill you for something even if they dont know what is wrong or how to fix it!! I mean WTF!!

She's due a service again soon!! any recommendations??

cheers,
Anton.

This has come up a few times before but no-one seems to know anyone with a good name for working on Subarus in Cork. I tried a guy last year who was decent enough and worked on a lot of modified cars but he's gone out of business since.
I know a few lads who have gone to Eddie Garrys in Waterford when they had the deal on servicing for €99.
Other than that I'm stumped :dunno:

And if you think your €750 service bill is bad, someone else on here got a bill from Ryans that would bring a tear to your eye!!!!!!!!

No surprise there!!! That's where my little bill came from too!!
Atm, they reckon i owe them money because they "looked" at a fault in the temp guage, and even though they didnt have a clue what the problem was and didnt fix it...

btw, dont suppose you've ever heard of a temp guage hand dropping right to the bottom of the scale when you accelerate at very low revs in any gear??? low enough that shes only just able to pull herself up the revband

ta,
Anton

Ya I thought as much. The other forum member had to negotiate his bill because they were trying to charge him for extra labour when they forgot to do something in the right order and then it took twice as long to finish.
It's a really bad sign when p[eople prefer to drive over a hundred miles to get a service rather than use the local dealer!!

Yep i think we have all had probs there  :shock
Anton i'll ring around and see if i can get any names for ya
but there is no one who comes to mind :ponder: :ponder:

Niall.

aye definitely!! its the arrogance that really gets to me... they think they just have this right to your money and lots of it....

Anyways, Up the Reds on wednesday night!!
bellamy wants an unmerciful kicking though!!!
I was disgusted that we gave a knacker like him an opportunity to wear the shirt!!

I know what you mean  He's turned the club into something off Dream Team. Unavailable due to assault trial one week, boozing and fighting the next! And there have been a lot of other rumours about his behaviour on various nights out in Liverpool too.

"boyhood fan, reformed character, one last chance, changing my ways, love for the club, won't let the fans down, etc. etc."

Respectability is #1 aim for wed night I think. If we have that at half time, we can maybe start thinking about a nice 0-0

I take mine to eamonn ryans (littleton)....never had any problems with their work or price(compared to other dealers)...

Oh yeah, forgot about them! I went up there a few years ago to get the timing belt done on my old car. Significantly cheaper than Dinny and Mary!!!!!

didnt think ryans was too bad. got my 30k service there last week and apart from alot of oil (which i knew it needed) and new wiper blades it was €400 in VAT.

didnt think it was too bad at all and the car was returned spotless.

that being said i'd be interested to here any other options open
