My Brother is based in Cork, he does broadband network building and maintainance,
Which has him driving across the country and then up the side of a high mountain to get to masts and stuff!
His Pajero died last week, and is in the market to Lease a new Crew Cab,
He does huge mileage, and as above, it needs real off road ability inc. diff lock! and a covered load area and a nice spec, as he spends alot of time in her! cruise control would be nice, but that can be retro fitted if needs be!!
He likes the L200, I say he should get the Hilux 3.0 D4D, (he was told the Hilux doesn't have diff lock!!! could that be right??)
Any experiance you guys have with either model or any other would be much appreciated!
Thanx
Dan

hilux or landcrusier great motor, l200 not great, the landcrusier is full time 4x4 i think compaired to rest, mate has 04 one and will do anything and go anywhere

personal opinion from driving experience would be the land cruiser or the old favourite the land rover discovery.....

L200 isnt great off road (impo) Hilux is great but if it has no diff lock could be an issue and get him stuck.....

I agree regarding L200,
Is there a land cruiser crew cab???
Dan

My brother has an L200 he got from work and they have had nothing but trouble with it from the day they bought it.

As above the Dmax and L200 are not great yokes and are not nice to drive ,landcruiser or hilux would be far better!!

I had a navara in the garage here and drove it for 2 weeks and loved it ,i taught it was a cool yoke ,comfortable aswel.
iv seen them give a fieu bits of trouble but nothing more than most cars.

Toyota is most reliable IMO

I have a navara 2007 auto from new. I love it and lots of poke in it too. Mine is full leather/ electric everything aswell. Get around 600 kms to a tank if you drive it right, half that with trailers though. I know when i bought mine the vrt was only € 50 as nissan made them heavier to exploit a loop hole . Worth a look if he 's serious about buying.

Old model l200 were good machine ,not sure about new ones , they even look soft , father used one for 3 years in building industry and still regrets selling it , really pulled everything it was designed to and more , he traded it on a pajero and in his own words it was a "hopeless piece of s*** " traded that against a navara in 2007 and it never missed a beat , comfy go anywhere and not to bad on diesel even with a good load on tow , He looked at nearly everything else along the crew cab line and cant find anything as good as it and hes still on the look out for nice navara now ,

Toyota probably best all round machine but over priced

3 lads round here had the navaras, all got rid of them cos they gave trouble.

i like the d-max cobras, but the lad next door got a hi-lux and its gourgous.

isuzu are doin a deal at the min trade in a trooper 98-06 model and pay 14500 plus vat for a new d-max crew cab

The brother has a Ford Ranger Thunder, is happy out with it. Good to pull, rear diff lock, full canopy on the back. They are the same as the Mazda BT50. As far as I know they are a designed and built by Mazda. Probably a little tighter in the back seats than a Hilux but seems to be a good machine.

Thanx for all the feed back lads,
Very much appreciated!
I can strike the L200 off the short list anyway!
I'm thinking that Hilux above or an Auto navera, I think the navera looks the coolest!
