Will they rub - 17x8 ET48 with 235/40 or 225/45 for '02 BUG

Hi folks,

I'm looking to pickup a set of Rota wheels - and I see the wheels are 17x8 ET48 for my 2002 WRX Bug

Ideally I'd like to go with a 225/45 tire, but I'm concered there won't be much rim protection, so I was thinking of going 235/40 , which would be the same height tire, but an extra 10mm of coverage at the rim. Can anyone advise if this setup would rub the arches etc ?

no on a 225/45/17 they would be no rubbing.

thanks Dave - any idea if the tire will look stretched ? with the 225 on the 8" wheel ?

and is it possible to go 235/40 on the 17x8 and not rub ? without any arch work etc.

running 235's on an 8x18 , car is lowered and cant get it to rub at all
