xbox 360 problem

just wonderin has this happened to anyone here. When i turn on the console i get nothing on the tv screen and get a red ring around the power button??
 
Think I've heard that described as the red ring of death man :icon_cry:

I don't have any of those computer contraptions so can't be sure :dontknow:
 
if its three red lights -ring of death - xbox dead - if so i have a reciept from christmas , smyths will replace - no questions

if its four red lights - something not connected properly / dodgy wire - swap wire to check !!


thats my take on it - im on my third xbox360-
 
you can buy a thing called the xbox x-clamp fix online but it involves opening up the xbox yourself and adding the kit. voids any sort of repair by microsft. If its 3 red lights flashing this repair is covered under microsoft's extended warranty and they will fix it for free, if its stil within the standard 1 year warranty and you have the receipt,bring it back to where you bought it and they should give u a new one
 
I will give you one bit of advice brian get rid of the xbox 360 and get a ps3 great console they dont give any trouble, my brother bought the xbox 360 go pro with the new falcon chip that was supposed to stop the red ring of death, more sh1t from microsoft it doesnt get rid of the red ring of death at all :angry1: my brother sold his one after he has seen a few of the new ones getting the rrod, he has a ps3 now best console :smile:

the x clamp doesnt fix it either, it might only last a week and the three red lights are back :icon_rolleyes:
 
not good so. Its bout 2years old and used bout 10 times max. Typical, the day guitar hero metallica comes out it shits itself!
 
the warranty was actually extended to 3 years mate so your grand .. find the number on the microsoft website and your sorted ...

they send you a ups label , they collect it from your house , and deliver it back within a week or so ...
then you sell it and but a ps3 , thats what i intend to do , as soon as i get my piston rings sorted anwway
 
very un-reliable hardware alright, and microsoft have finally realised they have tp fix this issue for free, When it mine broke , got collected by UPS, and had it back in just over a week. Great console once it works
 
rang them they are fixin for free. Not a fan of the playstation lads, plus the price of them is just nuts. Only thing i bought a ps2 for was gran turismo and i have to say the new one is poo. Forza all the way!
 
sorry lads, i have both machines (xbox 360 elite) and the online gaming is just
out of this world on xbox!!! Ps3 is not a patch on it. HALO :icon_headbang:
On the other hand blueray all the way for movies....just not online gaming.

Ring this number 012420758 (microsoft)....... mine was 3 years old and had the same problem,
it was collected from my house and sent to Germany for repair returned two weeks later, all paid
for by microsoft... including a months free membership to Xbox live.........................................
all early released xbox360 have extended warranty due to this problem.

Playstation 3 is the best, it has a blue ray player and great spec, i dont know why people think its too expensive, look how much money you would waste buying xbox 360 if they were out of warranty, i know a couple of people that went through 3 of them xbox 360 thats more than the cost of a ps3, in fairness xbox 360 is a good console when its working but its a shame about the failure thats in them, i would rather pay out for a good console like the ps3 there good and reliable i have never seen any of them fail :question:
 
my son is on his 3rd ps3 he bought his first on the day they came out.....
xbox 360 failed once is 3 years and was repaired free of charge outside
of warranty..... both consoles have had problems and were rushed to the shelves
due to demand and greedy companies.
 
No point starting a new thread for the same problem.

My 360 Elite just packed in this morning with the RROD. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see if they will sort it out! So much for the Elite not suffering from the RROD problem!!

Do you have to send the hard drive off or can you just send the main console??
