Hi all I have this pop up screen in my jdm bug, as far as im aware its a navigation screen most likely a optional extra. Problem is it works fine pops up on start up, displays a word( FULL-W) and then displays nothing. Anybody have any experience with this setup as to why its not displaying anything after the start up message?

That’s an aftermarket head unit man probably something to do with that

I had a oem unit in it also but im now sure if it was a blob unit, maybe has to be specific to bugeye because the oem unit didn't accept the cd changer either.

it won’t work here anyway being Jdm specific model

I thought so alright, id like it to light up and display something regardless, ill look into the headunit. Cheers lad👍

As far as i know its pretty rare alright, thats why id like to get it to display something! Ill have a proper go at it the weekend.

Had a rummage round t'internet on this and went down a rabbit hole on JDM satnavs. (Sure what else would you be doing..)

That unit is likely to have been made by either Pioneer or Kenwood, and on those that Full-W message is supposedly short for "Waypoint memory full". Clear that and you might be back in action. It could have an SD card in it somewhere, that could be full or just borked if it's old, be worth checking if it has one and change that. There's also supposedly a reset pinhole somewhere at the back as well if you can get it out, that might clear it down as well.

If you do get it going supposedly all the maps/menus are in Japanese so you'll have a bit of craic with that. Replacement units pretty much non existent ,looks like they were very rare.

All from various forums and whatnot so pinch of salt on that info.

If you've no joy wonder could you stick in a small android tablet instead of the oem unit? I did that with mine using an empty satnav cowl I got off ebay. It's not perfect but not bad either, handy for maps.

Fair play man, thats a lot of info ill look into it now more going forward from what you found out for me, I did a good a while back and I did see others putting a android In them but as you said I think there quite rare so ideally id like to get it working as a oem "even if I can't read a word on it" !! Thanks for the info mate 👍

Right I cheated on it and done a chap gbt! Apparently according to who or whatever that gbt thing is, the Full-W message is full width for the maps.

I have a box under the passenger seat which I had thought was a cd changer, turns out thats the navigation box and requires a navigation disc "only usefull in Japan" no addition here, regardless im going to check the box for a disc just to see. The is a option to hardwire in to work android auto and Apple play but that requires chopping wires I dont want to as its a rare optional extra mostly on early gda's (Mine is a 2000 bugeye). Ill check for a disc tomorrow

Ah, I saw that full width mentioned alright somewhere as well (nasioc forum I think). The disc box sounds promising, that's a good find, on the right track anyway.
