Hey lads i'm looking for 00 d/s sti caliper with subaru embossed on it, one of the 4 pistons on the caliper seized yesterda :icon_cry:y, anyone out there got one for sale????

Would you not just try and get it repaired... as you may find it harder to get just one caliper as they'll generally be sold in pairs!

ill buy the pair if needed
where would i get it repaired in dublin and today??? i really need to get this sorted :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

Is it the drivers side or passenger side? As Jamie said, you'll more than likely only find them in pairs but if you ring Lusk motor group or Carroll and roche they may have a repair kit in stock. Bit messy but you could probably do it yourself

Ask any of the traders on here if they can help you out... but can't imagine anyone would be able to look at it today at it in such short notice. It depends how badly it's seized too.. Had this problem before on a UK spec caliper and managed to remove, strip it unseize and re-fit new seals which you can buy through Subaru.... but it wasn't that badly seized! Can you get any movement out of it or is it seized solid????

Try ASD in traders section!

thanks lads ill try them in a few

basically what happened is when the caliper was removed to change the discs and pads on the drivers side, one of the 4 pistons got stuck, and the pad on the outside of the disc wont slot into place because of it.now my fella tried to push the piston back in with everything he could possibly use, and it still failed.

now in saying that, he blocked the top piston with he old pad, and pressed on the brake inside the car just to see if the dodgy piston moved at all, and it did!! only about a mm though but it still moved!!

so if its seized how come its moving when pressing on the brake but wont return back??

Usuaually coz the rubber seals are gone and it's just not free moving due to dirt etc getting inside it. Did the dodgy piston come all the way out when he blocked other piston and pressed pedal???

i getcha,

well he had to take the caliper off with a hammer because it was pushed out so much, but yeah, the few mm extra it could come out, it came out.but as soon as he tried to get it back in, no matter what he tried, he couldnt.
i wouldnt mind but all the rest of the pistons on bothe calipers went back in with an adjustable wrench easy as pie.theres always one though....lol

get the use of a proper piston pushing tool !!!
pushing them back with other tools only scores the chamber and suffers later down the line!!!!

im glad to say its all fixed
thanks for all your help :653:
