01 B4 Legacy Fuel MPG

railrun

Sunday Drivers
I have my legacy on the road now a few weeks after a full rebuild and i have noticed that its got very sore on fuel. Is this a normal thing to happen after a rebuild. Other than that its running perfect. all the engine work was done by Paul Wray of Strabane. This was what was done. New acl bearings main and bigend. new crank and standard pistons. coil packs full severice all new belts new rad new clutch. Cant think of much else right now. :subaru: :subaru:

ha ha sorry should of put that in at the start. around somwhere between 10-15 mpg i would say

Dont think a car should be noticably worse on fuel after a rebuild?
Thats fairly bad MPG, have you any mods on the car, de-cat etc?

only mods are a forge bov and a break up grade thats it. now one of the coil packs have been missing i am getting them split and cleaned i wonder if thats why its been sore on fuel. i have only driven it a few 100 miles since the rebuild so fingers corssed it will get better as everything starts to bed in i hope anyway i will get it back from the garage on monday so fingers crossed. befroe the rebuild it was doing around 25-30 mpg as long as i stayed away from the second turbo :049: :049:

I used to get 18!! :cuckoo:

Can't see the engine having and effect, the fuelling is dictated by the ecu, regardless of what engine is in it.

some sort of remap could be the order of the day then. i am almost sure that its a rev D model so it should be easy to remap right ? does any one know how to tell if its a rev D or not. its 01

rev C!

but if you want proof look at your applied model code on the passenger side turret Fuji Plate!

yours will say BE5C**** or something

   ok this is crazy i did 100 miles to 40 euro. can anyone tell me where i can get it mapped to try and sort this thing out

as said above changing internals isnt going to use anymore fuel if injectors are your own etc.

Check lambda wiring as if sensor was not removed when taking engine out or whilst going in it can rub/hit the chassis leg and get damaged.

At above figures your area 18mpg

i worked the above out at about 15mpg

yes o2 may not show a code, one of the wires snapped on mine and it didn't even throw a code for aaaages :ponder2:

Maybe i have it arseways.

40.00 euro at 1.60 a litre is 25 litres

25 divide by a gallon amount of 4.55 is 5.49. So thats 5.49 gallons in e40.00

100miles was acheived for this divide by 5.49 is 18.21mpg

unless ive messed up somewhere
