Im looking for a blobeye sti preferably blue but will consider other colours.Have a budget of about €7K so will most likely be 03/04 model.Must be clean,in very good condition and looked after etc.English reg are no good to me as the VRT is about €2k.If its jap it would have to be mapped already. If you know of any good ones about let me know as Im a bit fussy :icon_rolleyes:

Hi

Thanks for the replies.I've seen those ads before,im a bit wary of travelling a long distance only to find the car is not worth it,which is very likely these days.

Has anyone seen that red one in the flesh, looks pink in some bits of the picture but that may just be the camera/light.

Call me fussy but the engine bay on the jap one looks filthy, that really turned me off, plus it doesn't say anything about being mapped so probably driven on 95ron.Otherwise it looks great

In fairness you have said you have 7k budget and preferably want Blue,

Now Gordon has given you a link to a 2004 Widetrack Blue blob in Wexford and its asking price is only 7450, has a new NCT and tax untill october and says it wont be faulted and your NOT interested because the engine bay is dusty, and you are not wanting to travel TOO far to find a car.

If i was Gordon i would be saying to myself why the fook did i bother my arse.

Think you need to be a bit more realistic.

:lolpoint: a dusty engine bay wouldnt bother me as it an easily be cleaned provided the car is in goo condition in every other way,a clean car isnt going to fall into your lap,you are going to have to travel and be prepared to come across a few bad ones but its part of finding the right one,the one i put the link for would defo be worth looking at been a widetrack and does seem to be clean,i think maybe 7k is been optimistic though regards finding a good one as you maybe should look at around an 8k budget just my two cents man

Its not dusty, its heavy dirt.Even looking at the air intake. It just turns me off,as I said im a bit picky,as I know it must have been driven on shitty roads to get that dirty but thats just me it could be a good car,I wouldn't knock it until I've seen it so no disrespect to the owner.

I did say about 7K so can spend more if I find the right car and I don't mind travelling,I travelled to barnsley in the UK to buy a van and up north to buy a bike last year so would go even further for a car. What I said was im wary of travelling a distance for so called ''mint'' cars hence why Im asking on a forum if anyone knows it........hope that clears that up for you

the only reason i said that dust wouldnt bother me is my own engine is a bit dusty but i know it has been seriously well minded by the previous owners,so its very possible that car is the same the car looks like its in good condition so imo its worth a look as i said already you are going to drive far and will find lemons but you will find the right one again just my two cents

Have to agree wit you on this Gordon. My last sti the engine bay was never cleaned but the guy that owned it serviced it every 5k miles, washed and cleaned it every week from new

"Call me fussy but the engine bay on the jap one looks filthy"

Some people just dont clean their engine bays,
and some folk would rather buy a car with a dusty/dirty bay that way you can see any oil or fluid leaks that bit easier and too be honest it's not really that bad, ok its bad if you park one next too it thats been cleaned but it just looks to be dirty from everyday conditions.

Any of us who were @SSO in 2008 will testify as to what a dirty engine bay is like if they remember the Pakistan chap who followed us to the event and back to the hotel were he lifted the bonnet to reveal the dirtiest bay you ever laid eyes on, the chap must of driven it cross country for most of its life

i do agree with you nic a dirty engine bay is off putting when looking at a car but if the car is well looked after serviced bodywork is good etc then the engine can easily be cleaned

Im hard set to wash my car, let alone polish it, and certainly wouldnt dream of cleaning the engine bay. But all my cars get well looked after with services, so i really dont see what the deal is about this engine bay, being a bit anal comes to mind, i would rather see it that way and see it has no leaks or hasnt been opened up rather than arriving and it after being powerwashed to death to possibly hide something, but hey what would i know.

I'd be hesitant buying a car with a minty engine bay... I've seen the damage jet washers do to alternators, wiring looms and seals/gaskets etc. :shock2:

So long as that car has a good service history and a hasn't been ragged... I'd seriusly consider it and not be worrying bout a dirty engine.

My own wagon has been meticulously maintained by me and previous owners... but is fooking grimmy as hell under the bonnet!
