08 Legacy Diesel - Low Compression in 2 Cylinders... HELP!!

Hi Kevin here, just joined the forum and looking for some advice/help.

I recently had the turbo reconditioned on my 2008 Legacy diesel, there's 145,000km on the car.
About a month later I started to notice white smoke at start up and that it seemed to by using some engine oil.
I got my mechanic to check the car again. He checked to compression and told me that the the compression ratio is low on one side of the engine.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed and who does this type of work?
Thanks again.
Kevin.

how low was it
Could be rings or a number of things
Did the diesel engines suffer with ring land failures

I'm not fully certain but I think he said 24 Bar on the good side of the engine and approx. 18 Bar on the bad side.
Don't know about the second part of your answer.

Its full engine strip.

Possible cylinder wall damage etc.

Massive €€€€

Basically financially economical write off repairing correctly.

Second hand engine option if can even find one. Still guts supply and fit of 3k area. And huge risk along with it..

My advise to anyone with a subaru diesel on the forum. Friends or family.

Is to sell sell sell sell!!
