hey new around these parts, Im thinking of getting a 1.6 04 model subaru (MY04)
just wondering does anybody have any info/links where I can read up on them,
what are the strong/weak points? and what are the things to look out for when buying?
did they come with the bonnet scoop

cheers

Look out for normal stuff. Weakest point is fuel consumption. Strong point is AWD which worked great this winter :) They didnt come with a bonnet scoop no.

Ive got a MY02 1.6 TS and can vouch for the fuel consumption, its bad enough.

Mine hasnt missed a beat since ive had it though, they dont come with the bonnet scoop but you can one can be fitted if you know a decent enough spray painter.

Well hows it going ,

I had a 1.6 ts new in 2005 , loved the car but the only down side is fuel consumption :hand: they are unreal thirsty , If i drove it like a nun i might have got 400km to the tank , the build of the car and reliability are up there with the best of them , i done 60000km before i sold it and it never missed a beat , bar regular servicing i never had to look under the bonnett ,alot of the cars including mine got the body kit treatment to make it look a little more sporty , great car for the money BUTTTTTT........................ If you can find a 2.0 rx that would be a much better buy , im getting between 500 to 600 miles per fill up , and there is actually a bit of go in them :shhh: the only thing on them is the road tax , but you make the difference up with less frequent visits to the pumps

id go for 2 litre if at all possible m8 , cheaper in the long run

I presume you mean kms, even so thats some going Tommy, I barley get 400kms in the wrx

Whoops , my mistake , 500 to 600 kilometres per tank , thats fairly normal driving to 100-120 km/h , on motorway alot 2

welcome along :subaru:
I had a 1.5 hawkeye , before i got the bugeye, and im getting better
mileage outta da bug :dontknow:

Hi I've been trying to find spec information (mpg, torque etc) on the 2 litre RX non-turbo 2005 car, but it is like it doesn't exist. Most information on it points to pre bug eye models or the 2010 car with the same name. I'm think of getting one or the non-turbo 2 litre Leggy 04 - 05 (which is almost equally as hard to find out information about). Can anyone point me in the right direction (or know it off hand).

Cheers guys

A fella on here 2 or 3 years back had his standard 2.0 rx on the rollers at 172 , officially they had 156 bhp and a not to different torque figure ,

Try lookin at imprezasport.net , basically a non turbo site , new age not to common on there but lots of info , also the my06 hawkeye isnt really known as an RX , Your better looking for an R or an R Sport such as mine ,

Yeah thats it in a nut shell , log book for mine says R SPORT anyway , i think the main reason they are an R or R SPORT are purely because the cars got full wrx interiors and fog lamps , sometimes you may find an english car that wont have them parts ,

Jesus cant believe the car in the link is how mine started out lookin like ,

Did a quick search and I found a lot more info, it all makes sense now though. Cheers again. Just wondering do they get much attention the scumbags of the country even though they are not WRX or STi?

If you bought a standard one without the spoiler and stuff they are not a very noticeable car , when you do start adding bits as ive done its not easy to tell the difference unless ya know what your looking at , ive had mine into main dealer for service a few times and even service manager thought it was a wrx , and hes lookin at them every day of his life .

That's what I wanted to hear :icon_headbang: hopefully the next time I post I will be in the club properly :) Thanks again for your help.

No problem , its the best €50 you'll ever spend when you get full Membership ,

let us know how you get on lookin for the car or if ya need a hand lookin over one there are some top mechanics that know there Subaru's here !

I had mine in C&R getting the knock sensor done a while back and was told exactly the same thing about mine.
