1 or 2 year NCT?

Car flew the NCT this mornin and only looked at the cert when i got home an it says its up again in 2012. Full details are:

Car first registered in Japan March 2002
Car first registered in Ireland Dec 2007

NCT up on the 31-12-11
Got the test early and my cert says its up again on 31-12-12

Because the cert is up on the 31 of december, the new one is valid from the 1st of january2012. So because the car is 02, does it automatically make it 10 years old and i only got one years cert or is it supposed to go from when the car was first registed in Japan?

ya same as my 99 sti impreza only got 1 years test think its bad as the man in the nct said he had't seen a clean one like mine in a long time but only 1 years test not gud more money for them
 
It should be from when the car was first registered in Japan from new, not from when it was registered in Ireland.

Your current cert should not be up until march 2012 and you would get a 1 year cert from then on.
 
Make sure you get your €50 back though, because I can see them saying, 'Oh ye, I see that now' and then telling you the test you just did is only valid until this coming March :hammerhead:
 
always thought it goes from date car was registered in Ireland
sure I seen this before :ponder2:
maybe both have been happening
wouldn't be surprised in the slightest :cuckoo:
