Hoewdy lads,
Just wondering what your thoughts are of putting 18" Alloys on your Impreza's?
Anyone see this as a good or bad point? I have 17's on at the moment and have sen a set
of different alloys that only come in 18" fitment..

Would it be too stressful on the gearbox pulling the big wheels around or is there no difference?
Anyones view on this would be helpful thanks!

I think it can affect the handling :ponder2: Open to correction on that!
18's would be more for show than anything! I'd stick with the 17's you have Kenny, they're nice!

as yogi says bout the classic....
could be bullsh1t but when i got my sti , i bought the prodrive pack and was recommended to change to 18"s to complement the power upgrade and thats from eugene donnelly up in belfast!!!
:dontknow: :dontknow:

Cheers for the comments, yeah mines a Classic shape,
must stick with the 17's i have so!

And i didn't really want to get 18's just the wheels i wanted
only come in 18's! But sure what can ya do :dontknow:

Thanks guys  :subaru:

What size tyres you runnin JP? Will be gettin a set soon enough myself.. any rubbing in the rear arches?

had 18's on mine and didnt find much of a difference tbh, mine was only a ts tho........

Had 18's on a classic when I bought it and it fecked up handling and wore out all the wheel bearings coz of the weight. Bigger diam. means better top speed and slower acceleration.... wouldn't want to loose acceleratinon IMO.

Had 18's on my classic, lowered on tein s springs & she rubbed like mad on the rear arches. Got the arches rolled & was better but with anyone sitting in the rear it was still rough.

Completely different car to drive on 17's, much better. Post up the name or pic of the wheels you're looking for, I'm sure we can come up with some alternatives at 17" for ya

If you run 18's on a classic you are going to have to run a narrow enough tyre.
You need to drop to 215's on 17's to prevent them rubbing.

17's fill the arches well, they don't hinder acceleration and they handle well.
18's make them look like the car is on stilts, is harder on the rack, tyres are going to be narrow and more expensive, they'll buckle easier, it'll rub like hell etc..

Need I say more... 17's all the way.

have 215/35/18 and coilovers with no rubbing

same as that, was fine on the track for me aswell,
altho there will be a small pull when your driving on a bad road. no big deal.
