2.5 wrx coolant loss

Losing a fair bit of coolant, about the contents of the expansion bottle every 4-500km.

Traced it to the bottom of the engine. Seems to be coming from around the head gasket.

No heating issues, not taking any oil and does not seem to be mixing oil and water.

Anyone ever seen this before? Checked to see if any pipes have pin holes or wear that may be leaking but cannot see anything.

230km on original head gasket, no recent work done other than rocker cover gaskets.

TIA.

Was happening to me at one point as well. I was told not to worry about the expansion tank, but the main tank. If the main tank was to drop significantly to being it in straight away.
From what I can tell with my own, expansion tank changes levels (up and down) after each drive.

Ya good point about the expansion tank but car is losing a nice drop of coolant all the same haha

Shouldn’t be putting a pint of coolant in it every time I fill it with petrol lol.

I had something similar, took ages to find the leak, until one day when I parked the car, i had steam coming up through the intercooler, but by the time you've the bonnet open it was gone.
Turned out to be the small hose from the header tank to the turbo was leaking a drip and the coolant used drop on the the turbo ( hence the steam).

It could also be the water pump that’s leaking only way to know is take the timing covers off , if there is coolant residue in at the water pump pulley that’s leaking only your issue

also the expansion tank should not be full when the engine is cold , if you fill it up when cold to full then there is no room for expansion ,
Check condition of radiator caps no harm to replace both header tank and rad at the same time

Locate the higest point of the leak . Get it on a lift and start it and see if it’s leaking on tick over or just under boost .
There’s 2 steel pipes that sometimes rust running up the back of the timing covers from the water pump check them also
