Dec the girl across from my mams has same year and type. Hard on fuel ( easier than a subaru :icon_biggrin: ) and steering rack problems. My dads mates wife has the 1.4 diesel version 4 years now and no trouble.

little pocket rocket easy to get them up to 200 horses, in a car that weighs feck all, its a good combo. look a bit girlie though and not much room if your over 6ft tall

What happened to the world ?? Women shouldn`t even know what these words mean
(only joking She probably well educated by Yourself)

I've driven a Cooper S and Cooper S Works... Both a nightmare in the wet... They understear like fook. great in the dry but found the S Works near impossible and almost dangerous in the bends on wet roads.

And Dec... Robbie ain't jealous... He's more of a beetle type of gal with a daisy in the flower holder on the dash!!

Mother has a 2005 Cooper. She would not buy another one. Only 80,000km on it and recently giving trouble. Nothing major though.

O2 sensor replaced. New from BMW cost arm and a leg.

Most of exhaust all rusted. Currently blowing at down pipe. (would not like to guess what BMW will charge for a complete exhaust!)

Failed NCT on passo side wishbone bushing. Quoted €700 from BMW to supply and fit a new one. €700 for a piece of rubber to be replaced!!!

Cars are a nightmare for mechanics to work on. Almost all work is labour intensive because the car is built so compact, replacing parts involves getting other stuff out of the way first.

On the plus side, solid heavy cars on the road. Quiet cabin. You get the impression you are driving a bigger car. Handles well. Nippy and fun on the B roads.

a mate of mine had a 2002 cooper
owned it from new
did 110,000 miles on it
only noticible problems where
window reg
abs control unit (exspensive but can get reconditioned ones)
ate bulbs like no other car

i had a cooper s i was selling for someone in 2006
drove it for 2 months
was a nice car once you do a few mods they are good craic
only problem with that was central locking motor passenger side

engine in them is a chrysler engine same as in the neon

there not the best car
but the right one with the right bits on it and they can be nice
if that is what she wants well then get it for her
or else the car you do get she will never be happy with :icon_rolleyes:

they where a hard enough sale when new
and now dont sell very well either
to many around as compared to demand etc.
but that one has a nice spec
chilli pack multi function wheel upgrade wheels
grey was a good seller in them
but that blue does look nice
as long as its a good one and you get a bit off
go for it

well lads got a car in antrim yesterday not a cooper s but a 1.6 cooper we taught 1 alcoholic in the house is enough :subaru:so we picked this one,its a 2005 1.6 petrol cooper with half leather and all the toys 73000 km on it 1 lady owner bought in joe duffys new full history she is delighted with it
