2010 polo 1.2 won't start

Alright lads , brothers car is turning over but won't start . Any1 any ideas as to what it could be ?
Had to give him a lend of my car to get home this evening ..

Crank or camshaft sensors?
Does the fuel pumps primes?

He got a diagnostic yoke onto it earlier but showed now faults, fuel pump is working.

Most of cheap diagnostic chips dont support anything else than emission related stuff. Its different story if you used propper tool.

I?d be checking timing first. Chains jump and stretch all the time.is it spinning over quickly?
Horrible sh1te engine!

Obviously check all the usual stuff first and go from there.
