22B Dublin

I had a look at that car a few months back. The badge missing off the wing is the prodrive badge. She was damaged front end as the lads have said.

He started it for me but it was hunting in the revs and I told him to turn it off. Something defo up with the engine.

I thought the wheels and the WRC extras where the dogs but you would need to put a fair few quid into her to get her right so if the price was right from them and you where willing to do a bit to her then you could turn her round but if they stayed fixed to that price I'd look for a cleaner example.

Hi Mark
As the lads say, Its a bit rough round the edges alright.
Although a couple of lads i know pointed out to me that it does have a few expensive wrc extras on it. One being a ceramic coated exhaust.
I would love a 22B myself and if i had the money i may consider that particular one but you would really only want to pay 15k max for it considering you can buy a well maintained example with a rebuilt engine for 19/20k sterling, mapped an all.
I think he has the original wheels for it but they are supposed to be in bits is how he described them so they must be bad.

I bought my 98 type r off them and had bad dealings with them.
Told me it was a 99 when i put deposit on it, rang me after to say it was a 98. Then i struggled to get money off final price.
Tires were bald so i asked for 4 new ones in the deal. Went to collect car to find no new tires on it. After a shouting match with ya man i got 2 tires out of him :angry1:
And the 'full service' it had before i picked it up consisted of new front wiper blades he put on while i was there and they fell off when i used them leaving the place.
Luckily i checked the oil that day to discover it was down at the minimum level on the dip stick :shock2:
Saying all this though, except for wear and tear which is to be expected on a 10yr old car, the car has ran perfect for me since day 1.

Definitly bring somebody who knows their cars, preferably Subaru's when you do find a car you like.

Whatever you choose to buy, factor in at least 2000euro for a full service, timing belt and mapping of the car
Well Matt,
Beggers belief why 'salesmen' have that attitude.A bit of courtesy and honesty goes a long way in fairness.

Would be hard to see him dropping more than that really but would be worth having a crack at him!
Ya the ceramic exhaust and front brakes are worth few pound alright although by the sounds of it i dont think he would know the difference.

Regarding the bad idleing, could be a number of things really, but with the car sitting there for 18-24 months wouldnt help it either.

Bit of a minefield when you are buying a car like that really

Suppose the only thing to do is go and give a look at it properly and see for myself.

Yeah sure no harm in looking. See if you can preasurise them :smokin:
Let us know how you get on
