22B for sale 000/400

I'm with Jamie on this...left hand drive?

They never made a left hand drive version. If it was converted afterwards then it would be worth a fraction of the premium a 22b makes

There were 3 000's

McRae, Grist & Subaru Japan got 1 each. They were only development cars & Grists didn't even have the 22b engine

for the car that it is :icon_pray: , BUT with such a price tag involved , im loosing a little respect for this model ! (if that makes sense )

imo people see it as more of an posession/prize/show pony than the CAR that it is . put it in a shed and keep it forever . :angry1:

buy / use / maintain :beerbang:

Overpriced example. There was one on Australian forum for similar money with single digit plate number and delivery mileage a few years back. People were saying that was overpriced during boom time. This screams of an investor trying to make a killing.

Wow wasn't aware of this car. I'd love to know the chassis number.

It says in the add that it was a UK car and was converted to LHD. Unusual items are UK rear lights and Type UK front driving lights. It also has a MPH converted speedo and Jap spec dash so is a Jap spec car. I heard at that at the McRae gathering there was someone trying to buy the ex Grist car as they said that they already had one 000 prototype

There's lots of cars being sold out of Italy at the moment as I understand the government brought in a BHP related tax meaning if you had a 20 year old Audi RS2 you could end up paying more in annual tax than the car is worth..

wasnt there a 22b for sale up north awhile back and the add said that it was nicky grist's 22b...

That was 259/400. Roland who was the first owner of mine brought it in for him and he flipped it on. He kept his 000 car for a while and modified it a fair bit.

When i did the mcrae gathering in 2008 with paul owner of nicky grist 000 22b at the prodrive factory we got david lampard over to the car for photo's,Now this bit im going to say others will say different but its was meant to be colin, nicky, and david that had 000,Paul asked him why did you sell yours ,As when we where in lanark we where saying it would have been nice to have the three not just the two lampard said it was just a car at the time and that it did go to italy this was said infront of me by david lampard

Assume you meant Dave Richards?

There are 2 different stories alright about the 3rd 000. Some say it went to Dave Richards & some say it went to Subaru Japan but if he said it right in front of you then thats the story I would be believing. No questions about McRae & Grist getting the other 2 though.

No i meant David lampworth aka prodrive test driver and today he is the director of prodrive he work with the wrc mini setup and i have the photo's of him with me and paul standing over nicky car ,As Dave richards was in oz at the time of the mc rae gathering,What i wrote was what he said to me and pauls face so i would find it hard for him to be telling porkies he would have no need to,there where three giving out and the story would be true to some extend colin nicky and david did get 22b's but its said that lampworths was 400,not 000

Its plate says 000/000

it looks like this one was dedicated for Subaru showroom only

Usually it would be 000/400 and there are supposed to be 3 of them. McRae's, Grist's and David Lapworth's which was sold to Italy. The one on ebay seems to be ex David's.

I put it up on the 22B list, that was, that David Lapworth got 400/400 not 000/400 as there was a 000 car photographed in Japan and a previous owner of 400/400 (since stolen and never recovered) said he had a letter from David confirming it was his old car. Now this add has popped up together with the plaque on the Subaru Japan being 000/000 I'm glad to be proven wrong and it just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read on the Internet!!

There is one easy way to find out if a buyer was not sure is that the 000 22b where made at prodrive and hand welded and all the prototypes rust in the same area's as this was shown to me and nickys and colin cars, where the production 22b do not ,Also just to add on the 000 to add a twist yes there was meant to be 5 not 3 made  brian :ponder2:

If is was a (GENUINE) and im highlighting genuine prototype then yes,as the value will go up on these in years to come for collector's,Be it a right hooker or a left,be it a 2.2 engine or a 2 litre engine thats in nickys, end of the day these are the first 22b made that set the production going from the rally car, its like the ford rs500 hard to get a clean one for under £40,000 plus, end of the day car collectors have big wallets and want what is rare and in the scooby world this would be it,
