Anyone put this big brake kit on a 97 gc8?
4 pot brembos, godspeed discs and an option to go for carbone loraine pads also instead of standard ones. Screenshot_20250310_113804_Samsung Internet.jpg

Never seen that , must be fairly new kit,

You’ll need to run 18” wheels to fit over them as the original 328mm discs fit under 17” and are tight

If your not doing any Heavy Track work the normal with good pads will be well enough for the road

Even with 450hp they manage very well on track with decent pads

Yeah currently got 18s. Breaks non existant since I got the car and callipers keep seizing up due to age.
Needs good front kit set atleast. Ap's cost a lot so these might be more cost efficient🤣

I upgraded my discs and rebuilt the Brembo calipers.
Bought DBA discs and well happy with them.
Someone more educated than myself will be able to say what work is needed with fitting Brembo to a classic but if you could find a set of used Brembo, get them rebuilt and painted if needed, and then get either OEM or uprated discs, you'd have plenty I think.
The above kit be 2k or more by the time it's landed with customs and euro conversion etc
Olly is breaking a newage sti up north, so brembo from him, no customs or VAT and you'd have half the package

These are what I got for mine (except for GDB)
Think £166 for front pair of discs.

I tried olly last wednesday to get the front and rear brembos on that exact newage sti Eoin but when I rang him back on the friday to see if he had them off the car to get pictures they were sold😅
Newage used brembos be ideal for rear of mine but hard to get.
Il look in to them ones Eoin.

He'd be bound to have in the coming weeks, and as Barry said, if everything a straight swap over, that's the best way to go. And you'd have more than enough with normal discs from newage sti with brembos.
I'm well happy with DBA too, and to be fair, quite pleasing on the eye too lol

Yeah hes spot on as long as have kit of newage I could change discs and rebuild callipers. Would love to fill rim with 356mm discs but expensive buggers haha.

Standard brembo set with good pads and you’ll be sorted
Ap calipers either but more expensive for replacement pads and discs depending where you buy them

Would this fit under 17" or does it have to be 18"
17 but only certain offset and style of wheels , they are et53 most of the factory 17s , like the bbs 5x100 wheels jp and myself have , other option is newage Sti , bug or blob but off a narrow track with 5x100 hubs

Only thing about is , in my opinion you should replace the complete upright , bearing and drive flange before bolting big brakes on

So should be okay the the 17 I have from a newage. So need to sort out the brakes before I go to upgrade my alloys. Could I run 10mm spacers for clearance if needed?
My hubs where all refreshed not long ago so all good there.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Shane

Ap 6pot clear better than brembo 4pot calipers as less bulkey . Really need to check your wheel before buying as it’s a pain and extra cost to change wheels
I was hoping to get brakes sorted and get slightly deep dish rims maybe like jr3 jr wheels in time but Im probly opening up a can of worms for myself haha.

So I'll go that route as 6 is more than 4.
Just need to recover from the cost of the remap 🤣
At least gives me more time to get the car ready for the wrapping..

Just be mindful with the wheels being kinda concave or something, especially with Brembo. 1000023669.jpg
