4WD for bad roads

i was driving the wife's bora last night in bad conditions and it feels so unstable and floaty compared to 4WD. Its such a huge advantage for all the wheels to be connected on gearing down if the sh1t hits the fan.

yeah i came in to the car park in work today in a big sideways dirft ..people in front crawling in..I couldnt resist

:subaru: Subaru all the way.. Sometimes I really miss those winter slippy surfaces I used to drive on in my country. :icon_twisted:

Drove my little e30 318is to work this morning, came across ice... Should have invested in plastic wipe clean seats with drain holes... Was all over the shop...!!!

Doubt I'd have noticed it in the old wagon (which is now provisionally sold...)

Wait till I get my 4.45 limo for her and I'll be in a whole world of sh!t....!!! Had better start stocking up on tyres and rear bumpers.

havin a impreza right foot for the last year and a half , now when i drive the gf audi a3 , front wheels jus wont stop spinning

so imo 4wd is untouchable for grip and stability

Took the AE86 for a spin yesterday evening for the first time in a good while. Was ALOT of fun I have to say but you have to be careful, although the Yokohama Trackday tyres I have on it were actually surprisingly grippy considering the conditions. Tyres will have alot to do with it aswell. Generally you'd have pretty good and decently wide tyres on a Subaru, but when you then switch to a different car it normally wont. The difference in driving the AE86 compared to the Almera which I drove today was crazy. Could barely keep the Almera straight as the tyres are so skinny and crap. But yes 4WD rules obviously, but still tyres have a large part to play.

was out last night in the car with a mate and couldn resist the big empty car park in tescos clare hall for a min or two on the ice. :hammerhead:

was mad driving as well even doe your crawling along you hit ice and the abs just kicks in straight away if hit a bit more than normal. :subaru:

Brought the frontera to the RR day the other morning and had her in rear wheel drive for normal driving. I crashed. She's been in four wheel drive every since.

Fully forward locked out. But adjust it until you fell happy with the car.
